Entering the Unknown – Taking on New Challenges

Do you love taking on a new challenge? I sure do. I’m known for taking on challenges. I love them. I love what comes from taking on something that can make you grow as a person and expand who you are. Lately, there are two challenges that I am getting ready to tackle and I have no clue if I can accomplish either of them.

The First: Challenge Walk 100,000 steps in a day

“It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the thrill of the fight Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival” – Eye of the Tiger by Survivor

The first one is our BIG,  BIG, MONSTROUS, SUPER-DUPER LONG walk. If you’re new to this site, a friend and I plan to walk 100,000 steps in one day. We did 50,000 steps last fall and it was pretty good. Challenging but pretty good. By pretty good I mean we finished and I didn’t move for two whole days because my legs were killing me.

Now we have raised the bar on ourselves.

100,000 steps in a day means 20 hours of walking mostly non-stop (except for food and the occasional self-foot massage). We don’t know what to expect or if we can do it. It’s a huge unknown.

When you have a task to do, there are a few things you can do to get an idea of what it will take.

The best and simplest way is to:

Find someone who has done it before and ask them

entering the unknownNormally you would find someone who has done it before and simply ask them how they did it. Take them out for a coffee and pick their brain. Ask them what they would do differently and essentially pick their brain enough so that you don’t repeat their mistakes. This also helps you get to your goal close.

Except there is no one who has done this that we know. Looking around the internet it’s not a common thing.

So Why Do This?

I’ve been asked a lot of times “Why do this?” and I wish I could give them a better answer than “I don’t know, I just want to see if I can do it.” This time I have a friend with me so it will be nice to have support.

These challenges are as much about the goal as they are about finding out who you are in the process. Challenging yourself will make you a better person and will take you to a new level in your life. It’s the personal notch in your belt that is oh so important.

The Other MONSTROUS Challenge – Financial Freedom

This one is much longer than a day. I hereby announce that I am seeking financial freedom. For longer than I would like to admit, I have dreamt of achieving financial freedom. I just never went for it. At least not in any way that I felt counted.

Now it’s different. I am going after financial freedom, or financial independence with everything I have got. Best of all I am going to be sharing my ups and downs as I go along. I have no clue how long it will take me. I’m giving myself 10 years and focusing on doing everything I can to hit this goal.

Find someone who has done it before

Luckily with this one there are tons of people who have done it before. My biggest decision is trying to decide what path I will go down and what passive income vehicle(s) I will use to get there. As I uncover their tips and tricks I look forward to sharing my discoveries with you.
