Before I tell you some great ways to save money at Target I need to get something off my chest.
Full confession. Our family is a little obsessed with Target.
K. That’s a lie. Our family is HUGELY obsessed with Target.
Phew! I feel better getting that off my chest.
I can’t put my finger on it, either it’s the larger aisles, the great custom red products or the top level brands. My family just really enjoys the whole Target shopping experience.
That doesn’t mean that there aren’t ways to improve our savings at Big Red (as we like to call it)
Here are 7 surefire ways you can save money at Target.

#4. Get Discounted Gift Cards
Have you ever got a gift card you didn’t want?
Yeah, me too. Luckily there are places where people can buy and sell they gift cards leaving it open for discounts on your Target shopping.
Gift Card Granny, is where you can go to buy and sell gift cards. It’s so simple and it’s a great way to stretch your dining out dollars.
BTW this is great if you don’t want to sign up for the REDcard. But then you don’t get access to the special discounts. Looking online today the best discount I could find was 4% on gift card. so the Redcard is still the winner.
Check out Gift Card Granny for some great discounted Target gift cards.
#5. Check out the Online Clearance Section
Did you know that Target has a pretty sweet clearance section online?
It’s true!
I’m not just talking end of the aisles either. There is a fully dedicated section on their website with all the thing they are clearing out.
you can check it out online here and they are constantly updating it. Which is nice since it’s always great to find super deals.
Check out Target’s Clearance section and see if anything catches your eye.
#6. Get the Cartwheel App
Target has a sweet app called Cartwheel. Likely if you are a Target fan you already have this but since they have helped save people over $1.2 Billion with this app, you should grab it if you don’t have it already.
#7. Make Sure to Qualify For Free Shipping
Target knows you are busy and that’s why it offers low thresholds for free shipping when you shop online. All you need to do is be over the $35 purchase threshold and you qualify for free shipping.
Plus the offer free and easy returns. Honestly those two words (free and easy) are some of the best words you can hear.
[Update] Bonus #8. Get Refunds on Your Things You Have Already Bought at Target (and many more!)
Sorry I have to put this in, and you will be happy I did.
There’s no nice way to put this. Buying something online and watching the price drop after you bought it sucks.
Well, it used to suck, but not anymore!
How come?
Paribus finds refunds customers are owed from online stores, effortlessly!
Many stores have price adjustment policies, so that if a customer buys something and it goes on sale after, they are guaranteed the price difference back.
In most cases, people are responsible for identifying price drops and have to request refunds themselves. This can take a lot of time and effort.
Paribus makes it easy – saving money by doing the legwork for its customers.
It’s 100% free to join and you get to keep the full savings that it finds for you.
They can also request late delivery refunds for you. Double Sweet!

Putting it all Together: Here’s How to Use These Great Savings
Let’s say you want an Apple Watch.
You see that it’s $70 off this week, so here’s how to handle it. Right now it’s on sale for $179.
First make sure you have a Target Debit or Credit card (that guarrantees me 5% off). That lowers the price by $8.95
Then go through Ebates portal to Target or Swagbucks that would give me 1% off today but sometimes it can go higher, saving $1.79 (plus the $10 sign up bonus).
So by just being a savvy smart shopper you can save an extra $10.74 over and above the listed price. That’s not including any other saving that might be available through the Cartwheel app or early offers from being a REDcard member.
Plus, since I’m buying it online, I will get free shipping because it’s over $35.
Then I can wait and see if Paribus finds any discounts later on and save more should it happen!
How to Use These Savings on Something Smaller!
But you’re not in the habit buying an Apple Watch at Target every week.
Let’s say you need some pasta sauce. Because that’s what our family runs on half the time.
First you see from the Cartwheel App that Bertolli is marked down from $2.24 to $2.00 (12% savings).
Buying with the Target RedCard will save me another $0.10 ( 5% saving)!
Buying it through the Ebates Portal (that you just got free $10 for signing up) will save you another $0.02 (or 1% off your whole purchase).
Then I see that Ibotta has a $1.00 cash back. So after I buy it I scan my receipt and get $1.00 back (50%) savings.
So my originally priced $2.24, costs me $1.12!
Total savings of 57% from using these easy and free apps.
And since I’m going to spend over $35 my shipping will be free!
Then I can wait and see if Paribus finds any discounts later on and save more should it happen!
That’s how you can get some serious savings at Target!

Thanks !
I’m a Target-aholic too! My best score was when I bought our Nest thermostat a few months ago. It was discounted and I had a 20% off coupon and used my Target gift card that I’d bought at 10% off when they had a one day sale on these. I love the Target app that allows me to just scan a product and then adds it to my Cartwheel. I didn’t know I could use my Ebates though. Thanks for that tip!

Yeah Ebates isn’t huge, but sometimes the !5 will go up to a really good amount. Any money back in your wallet is always a good thing!
