Disney World Backpack Basics

Are backpacks allowed in Disney World?

100% YES! Disney allows for you to bring a backpack into the park, which can make for a much easier (and cheaper) day. There are many things you can pack in your Disney backpack, and a few things you cannot bring. We will get to those in a moment.

Should I bring a backpack to Disney World?

Yes, if you are going with younger children and have many kid “supplies” a back in Disney World is a necessity. It’s nice to have everything you will need in one place. If you have kids that are older, or you doing a Disney adult trip, then you may not need it, but when you want to have a water bottle, sunscreen, hats, sweater and anything else you can think of a backpack is the thing to carry around with you.

Can you take your bag on rides at Disney World?

Yes! But fair warning, when you get on a ride (like Animal Kingdom’s rides) that can go up and down, or a loop, it’s a good idea to put your foot through the shoulder strap of the backpack so you don’t end up losing your backpack on a ride (consider this a bonus Disney World Tip)

What can you not take into Disney World?

Disney World has a complete list of items you cannot bring into the park. Some of them are pretty obvious (weapons, glass, etc…).

But one that caught me off guard was no selfie sticks. Whether this is to promote their photo package or just to prevent thousands of people from taking selfies and damaging those people around them, it doesn’t matter.

Bottom line: leave the selfie stick in the hotel.

What should I pack in my Disney backpack?

If you are wondering what you should be bringing into the Disney parks, you can read our post on it here. We like to be prepared for every eventuality. So take a look at our Disney World packing list and know you will be well prepared.

Here is the list of what to bring to Disney World.

The best backpack for Disney World will depend on what you feel you need in the parks. Think it through with our list and get ready for a great time.
