Save More Money

(This is an updated version of a story I heard about a preacher, I adapted it for personal finance community)

There once was an amazing personal finance blogger who posted incredible material every week. People from all around the world would flock to his site every week to hear his latest advice. On this particular day this blogger posted only 3 words:

Save more money

The readers read the post, and carried on in their week. The following week the blogger put out his next post. Everyone thought to themselves he would give some insight to his post last week. Perhaps he would share some insight to his last post, or have a new app or idea to share.

But instead the post from this week only read

Save more money

This went on for weeks. People started to wonder if his site had been hacked. Every week it was the same 3 words.

Save more money

This post kept showing up week after week. Expecting to see something new. But every week it was the same:

Save more money

Several weeks of the blogger posting the same 3 words over and over again, with no other indication of something new. Just:

Save more money

People in online forums debated what could have happened to this once amazing blogger.  There were concerns and fears. Finally someone posted in the comments.

“Do you know you are posting the same thing over and over again. What’s the point? Is everything alright?”

The blogger responded: “Everything is great. I’ll stop posting it once people start doing it.”

Sometimes we need to hear things over and over again until it makes sense. It can take time for new knowledge to sink or until we take action. What have you been holding off that you could take action on? Let me know in the comments below.
